FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)

FAQs for the Pre-licensing Course

How many hours of education do I need to get my real estate license?

The Nevada Real Estate Division requires you to have 120 hours of study and instruction in order to apply for a Real Estate Salesperson License. We offer  online videos for you to watch and listen to  while reviewing your printed materials. Those are provided with your  registration. Once you are registered, you will receive a link to those videos.

So when are the classes?

Our program is ideal for students with busy schedules.   As a result, our course has been approved for correspondence/home study.  There are no classroom hours.  Read your textbooks, take the practice exams, watch the videos, and test out.  You can work according to your own schedule, and your own pace, not ours.  To augment your home studies, we offer online video sessions that are completely optional, but will undoubtedly boost your exam scores.  Once enrolled, you will be given access to the videos.

Are there other education or experience requirements?  What all do I need to get a license?

There are education requirements and experience requirements depending on the type of license sought.   See details.

I was licensed in another state.  Are there any waivers of education or experience?

Yes, if your license is still active.  See details.

How long do I have to complete the course?

You can work at your own pace. The course must be completed within 6 months.

Do I have to pass a test?

Yes.  You have to pass two tests to get your license.

How do I choose a real estate firm with whom I affiliate?

This is perhaps the best question.  Look for a firm with a respectable reputation, outstanding leadership, education systems and broker support. Signature Real Estate School is affiliated with Signature Real Estate Group.  We encourage you to meet with one of our brokers but you will never feel any pressure to affiliate.

FAQs for the Post-licensing Course

What are the renewal requirements?

Your first license is valid for  one year. During the first year you must complete 30 hours of an approved Post-Licensing Course.

I have experience from another state (includes Nevada).  Do I still have to take post-licensing?

Perhaps not.  NAC 645.4442 states that post-licensing is not required of a person who holds an active license in another state or held another license in Nevada within 5 years of the date of licensure.  If you think this might apply to you, we suggest you call the Division at (702) 486-4033 and choose the "licensing" option to verify your requirements.

FAQs for Continuing Education

What are the renewal requirements?

For each license renewal you must complete 36 hours of approved Continuing Education courses. Each license is valid for 2 years.

Can I take any course approved for C.E.?

Please see the new 2021 Educational Requirements page.

Can I take C.E. classes online?

You may.  However, you may not take more than 50% of your hours online, and at least 50% must be taken live, in the classroom.
